On paper, it’s a great bit of kit. The S24 was a fantastic device when I tested it and any refinement to that recipe is sure to add value.
Speaking of value, the S24 FE offers some serious tech at a more approachable price.
What Does “FE” Mean?
The “FE” in Samsung Galaxy S24 FE stands for Fan Edition.
Samsung designs the FE range of devices to offer the best of its flagship devices but at a lower price point—essentially packing the essential features fans love most without all the premium extras. The result? A high-performance phone that doesn’t break the bank, but still makes you feel like you’re using top-tier tech.
This means you’re still getting a powerful chipset, a top-shelf display, and a great camera setup, but without some of the luxuries (think extra RAM or advanced materials) you might see on the standard S24.
It’s a smart balance between performance and price.
How Is the S24 FE Different From the S24?
Wondering what sets the S24 FE apart from the regular S24? While they both belong to the same family, there are a few key differences you’ll notice:
• Display: The S24 FE sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, slightly larger than the standard S24’s 6.1-inch screen. If you like a bigger screen for gaming or content consumption, the FE’s display will win you over.
• Performance: The S24 FE runs on Samsung’s Exynos 2400 series chipset, which still delivers plenty of power but may lag slightly behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in the standard S24. Honestly, though: in terms of brute performance, you won’t really notice. Not unless you’re running the device hell-for-leather with apps like Photoshop or constant benchmarking to see your performance numbers.
• Camera: Both phones feature excellent camera setups, but the S24 FE packs a 50MP wide lens, an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. It’s a slight step down from the more advanced 200MP camera on the standard S24, but still offers impressive versatility, especially with the AI enhancements Samsung has included (see the next section for that).

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: Release Date and Pricing
You won’t have to wait long to get the FE in your mailbox.
The phone will be officially available starting October 10, 2024, but you can already pre-order it as of September 27, 2024 from select retailers.
In terms of pricing, the Galaxy S24 FE will start at AU$1,099 for the base model with 128GB of storage. If you need more room for apps and media, you can opt for the 256GB version for AU$1,199.
The phone will be available in three sleek colours: Graphite, Blue, and Mint.
