If you’ve met me or Luke, you’ll know that we’re big Tik Tok fans. Some people don’t get it. But to us it’s haven for all things weird and wonderful. I love Tik Tok because it’s a place where I can laugh at ridiculous cats but get advice on buying an off-the-plan investment property at the same time.

One of my favourite things to do on Tik Tok is scroll through the skincare advice – go figure. There’s tonnes of it and not just from influencers or people like me. I’ve seen some fantastic videos from doctors and dermatologists that would probably cost hundreds of dollars to actually go and see. Instead, they’re shelling out some seriously top-quality tips for free.

My favourite account right now is @prescriber. He’s a surgeon from the USA. And he posted a two part series on keeping your skin looking forever young. It all comes down to a few products. Retinol – obviously. But also using ingredients like hydroxy acids and newcomer niacinamide.

Take a look for yourself.

The products he mentions in the first video are a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen to protect your face from sun damage. And then at night he recommends a prescription 0.025% tretinoin cream (which is a type of retinoid) which helps maintain your skin over time.

The second video he recommends a cleanser with AHAs and BHAs, which improve skin texture by exfoliating. Next up is a moisturiser with niacinamide, which regulates oil production and reduces pore size. Third in the list is vitamin C which does lots of cool things like fading darks spots and regulating collagen synthesis in higher doses.

And the last tip of course, consult your doctor!

While you’re here, take a look at some of our other skincare guides. We’ve pulled together a list of our favourite sunscreens for your face and a list of lash growth serums that actually work.
